Something Unexpected- Chp. 8

I just needed to clear that up because I am adding a new language in this chapter =you'll see why when you read= and y'all need to know that.

     We had got to the hotel about an hour after we had left the hospital. Bill and Tom were helping me out of the car when Fred had come up to talk to us. “[What are you doing here? I thought you couldn’t leave until next week.]” I nodded. “[I was. But Dr. Fritz said that I could leave today. So I am. Now if you wouldn’t mind. It hurts stay in one place for too long. Can I go up to my room please?]” He nods and we all walk back to the hospital together.

     Tom and Fred stayed downstairs to set up for dinner and Bill helped me up stairs. I handed Bill my key card and leaned on the wall. “[Thank you Bill.]” He smiles at me as he opens the door. “[No problem.]” I walked in and turned around. Bill hands me my card. “[I’ll be waiting out here for you.]” I smile and nod as he shuts the door.

     It didn’t take me very long to change my clothes. I showered, put my hair up, and changed in about a half hour. As I walk out of my room I see Bill leaning against the opposite wall. “[Come on.]” He pushes away from it and we walk to the elevator.

     When we got downstairs Tom, Gustav, Georg, Fred, and Jost were all sitting at the table. I smile at everyone as Bill helps me sit. “[I’m surprised you guys haven’t fired me yet. Figuring that I’m injured and can’t be of much use.]” Fred and Jost laugh. “[Now why would we do that? You still have a week to get better. But if by then you can’t do much… We will have to find some one else.]” I look at Jost. “[I understand.]” Our food is brought out by multiple people. “[There weren’t this many people here last time. What changed?]” I look at Fred. “[The closer we get to getting back on tour the more workers show up.]” “[Oh. That explains it.]” We all laugh. “[So, Aimee. Tell me about yourself.]” I look at Jost again. “[Well… there really isn’t anything TO tell you Mr. Jost.]” He smiles. “[Nonsense. There is always something to tell.]” I sigh. “[I’m nineteen years old. I’m the youngest bodyguard you can find in the states. My boss seems to think that I’m the best at the firm and I think he’s just full of himself. I have no family but a Japanese grandmother and I got shot not to long ago… Is that enough information?]” They all laugh. “[I believe that will work. Yes.]” I sigh and we all eat out food.

     After dinner we all went up to our rooms. I needed to get as much sleep as I can get. I open my door and as soon as I close it, the phone rings. I rush over and pick it up. “[Hello?]”
“[Yes. This is Cara from the front desk. You have a call from someone named Ying Huan.]” My grandmothers house keeper. “[Alright.]” I hear a click and then a voice speaking in Japanese to someone very angrily. “(Hey. Shut up. I’m on the phone with her. Get out. Get away.)” “(Hello? Ying?)” “(Oh. Miss Aimee. Hello.)” I sigh. “(Why are you calling me Ying?)”
“(Just like you to get right to the point.)”
“(Ying.)”
“(Alright, alright. It’s your grandmother Miss Aimee. She’s sick. The doctor says she might not live much longer. She keeps asking for you. You need to come see her as soon as you can.)” My breath catches in my throat. “(What’s wrong with her?)”
“(The doctor says she is sick with some sort of cancer.)”
“(I’ll talk to my boss and see what he says. I’ll call you back.)” I set the phone back on the base and run out of the room and past the elevator to the stairs.

     I made it down four flights of stairs in two minutes. I stop in front of Fred’s door. I knock. “[Fred. Fred open up please.]” I hear the door knob click and the door opens. I'm startled to see someone OTHER then Fred standing there. “[What?]” “[Wh.. Who are you?]” “[I'm Saki. I'm Fred's boss. He had to leave for a little while. What do you need Miss McFarland?]” “[I.. I just got a call, my grandmother is dying. I need to go to Japan to see her. Please let me go.]” He looks at me. “[Impossible. Not only are you injured, but the tour starts soon. You have to be here for it.]” “[But Mr. Saki, she’s my only living relative and she’s the person who raised me. I HAVE to see her.]” He shakes his head. “[No.]” He shuts his door. “Ooooh. How I want to kill you right now.” I hear a noise behind me. “[What’s wrong Aimee?]” I turn around and see Tom. “[My grandmother is dying and Mr. Saki isn’t going to let me go see her.]” Tom looks back at the door. “[He’s not huh? Let me deal with it.]” I step to the side as Tom opens Fred’s door and closes it behind him. I can hear part of the conversation. “[…Come on Saki. It’s the only person she had left in this world. Let her…]” That’s all I heard because I saw Bill walking towards me. “[What are you doing out here?]” I jerk my head towards the door and Bill listens. “[She’s going and that is that Saki. No matter what you say, I have the power to fire you and I will if you try to stop her.]” “[Where are you going Aimee?]” I look back at Bill. “[I’m going to Japan. My grandmother is dying and I need to see her.]” Bill’s face falls. “[Don’t be sad Bill.]” I take a step forward and put my hand on the side of his cheek. “[I’ll be back.]” He shakes his head. “[It’s not that. It’s that every one you love is dying around you.]” I smile. “[Don’t worry about me.]” He smiles. “[I can’t help it.]” “[I know.]” The door opens and I drop my hand to my side as Tom walks out dragging Saki by the ear. “[Tell her.]” Saki cringes. “[Fine. You can go.]” I smile. “[Thank you Saki. Tom.]” I turn around. “[I’ll see you later Bill.]” He sighs. “[What are you talking about? I’m going with you.]” I smile. “[Bill, you have to stay here.]” He shakes his head. “[No I don’t. I’m still on vacation.]” I smile. “[Fine then. But when I go to see her, you aren’t coming.]” “[Fine with me.]”
